@collect: Standalone Toys “R” Us locations will open this holiday season, bringing its U.S. total from 40 to 160. They will carry LEGO, Barbie, Hot Wheels, Pokémon and more, while select stores will feature cafés, candy shops and Creator Studios. For generations, Toys “R” Us meant endless aisles of toys, video games and trading cards. Topps even produced special Toys “R” Us baseball sets, including the 1990 Collectors’ Edition Rookies set featuring Ken Griffey Jr. That experience largely disappeared when its remaining U.S. stores closed in 2018. Now, a familiar piece of childhood is coming back.
