Yes, it’s time to call her doctor. Schedule a hearing evaluation first, then a speech evaluation. Early intervention is so important.

It’s time to speak to your local public school and ask for an assessment. Normal as abroad spectrum, but you’re right to be concerned and be asking questions and this is the time that you want to get in there with early intervention

Speech is more than spoken words. My son is 23 months old and doesn’t use any words BUT he points, his expressive and receptive language is fine he just doesn’t talk. We did 3 months of speech therapy and he was discharged

My biggest piece of advice is to not look online. I feel like social media is such a toxic place and it’s so easy to see other children and compare.

My son wasnt speaking much at the same age. I was suggested to speech therapy and it was the best thing for my son. He learned so much and LOVED it.

I would say do not wait past 2! Get signed up for early intervention through you state and private speech if you can!

Yes my second child didn't talk a lot. She's almost 5 now and talks all the time. But we did get her to see a speech language pathologist and got her hearing tested too

You can call Nova Scotia Hearing and Speech and ask if a referral would be appropriate based on what you are seeing. They are so kind and helpful! Bypass the doctor and go right to the source - speech and language pathologist.

As a mom of a speech delayed 4 year old. I highly recommend speech therapy. You can self refer to speech therapy. It can take awhile so truly I think it’s better to get your name on the list and not need it later then waiting and wishing you had of self referred. It took us 2 years on the waitlist.

You can wait it out a few more months while starting HEAVY teaching at home. Repeat and emphasize everything. Think Ms Rachel but irl. Also make sure they're getting no screen time. Every moment should be interactive. BE MS RACHEL.

Bring it up to her doctor if you are concerned. You can’t really compare to other children. They are all so different.

My sons talked early... and a lot. My daughter didn't use words but was able to communicate what she wanted for the most part. I think she finally started talking around 2 1/2.

My daughter didn’t talk for real until she was 28 months, and she is 4 and a half now and she fully speaking and I feel it was out of nowhere. 🤷🏻♀️I was half concerned when she was 3 but the I started to see if she was understanding and she was. So for me that was a win, just needed to stay consistent with talking to her and checking if she was understanding and that was more than enough for me. The only thing i noticed is that she was talking to me only, nobody else, I never understood why… I told everyone she speaks just talk to her, but, she never talked to no one until she was 4. 🤷🏻♀️why? I have no idea.
