Well, I had my brightness all the way down the first time I saw it here on TikTok and I absolutely thought it was a person hanging & their feet dangling. I hadn’t read the caption or heard any discourse about it and I was so taken aback.

I can definitely see why people see that, but I also think it shows how Americans treat ourselves as the center of the world. Other countries don’t have the same context for racism as the US does (they have plenty of their own) and we expect them to be offended the same way we would be, but this ad was for Korean/Malaysian converse and I think that context changes how we should react
