@.carolgiselle: One of the BIGGEST things I’ve learned as a primary teacher is that you have to hook your students in those first 30 seconds to 1 minute 👏🏽 Especially now, when our students are growing up with so much stimulation around them, engagement matters. We don’t have to be performers, but we DO have to make our students invested in what they’re learning. Today we were talking about rereading and I did two simple things: 1️⃣ I brought out smelly stickers because my kids LOVE them. They became something they could earn during our reading lesson. 2️⃣ I brought in a book that I’m personally reading so they could see that I read too! I wanted them to see that reading isn’t just something we do because we’re in school. And remember, YOUR tone, body language, facial expressions and voice matter too. If you’re excited about the lesson, your students can feel that!
