@distilledscience: This type of therapy can happen in an outpatient clinic, meaning it doesn't compete for hospital resources and could theoretically cost way less... If we can get the costs of the therapy itself down. It's super sad to me that right now these therapies are often only given when the other stuff doesn't work, mostly for cost reasons (if anyone has any better take on this, please share!) The case study was published in the New England Journal of Medicine last week, called "Complete Regression of Hepatoblastoma after Interleukin-15– and Interleukin-21–Coexpressing CAR T-Cell Therapy" DOI: 10.1056/NEJMc2605958 #Science #cancer #stemtiktokcontest #health
heres my question, could this be done with people without cancer? removing cells and making them cancerous to teach other cells to target them then infusing them? like a cancer vaccine

This is fabulous, but I’m afraid that it will be to expensive and insurance companies won’t pay for it!

Car-T gave my mom 1.5 good years after 3 years of horrible symptoms with Multiple Myeloma. Sadly she did relapse and passed due to a lung infection, but she was so happy to live a bit of a normal life for that year. Car-T is truly amazing.

CAR-T actually does require taking chemotherapy drugs for a short while. So it's not entirely safe, but I do agree that it's better than relying solely on chemo and radiation.

I have a friend going through liver cancer now. My father died of complications from it as well. So if this therapy could be released to the public now, that would be great. Of course big pharma will fight it.
