@gospelguardianlds: When Jesus said "turn the other cheek" He wasn't telling you to be a pacifist. In first century Hebrew culture, a backhand slap to the right cheek was how a superior humiliated an inferior. By offering the left cheek, you forced your aggressor to strike you as an equal or not at all. Jesus taught a few other ways we can do this, such as giving your cloak as well as your coat, and walking two miles instead of one (explanation in video). This is why we study the Bible in its original cultural context. There is so much more in these words than a surface reading allows.
