I'm a coda mom dad deaf I'm also interpreter I've see this many times they also assume they cam write on paper communicate tgatcwas they write English on paper many deaf do not understand English

as a hearing person, it baffles me how often i hear about this experience. it has to be such a huge waste of time for providers too. but i immediately imagine being a parent, taking off work and arranging childcare, having to possibly drive downtown or farther for an appointment just to be unable to communicate with the provider. i would be beside myself 🙃
