During Rap’s conversation with Cole Cuchna for the Dissect Podcast, the pair spoke about Hip-Hop’s unparalleled ability to tell stories. From its lyrical density to the ability to link generations through sampling, the topic brought the ‘Sinners’ musical montage to mind. Taking place in the Juke Joint, generations of Black music and dance are depicted at once, from Blues to Hip-Hop, and everything in between. “It’s one of the greatest scenes ever done. Ryan Coogler is a genius for that,” @Rapsody said. “And the idea of showing that, in that way. It was absolutely brilliant, when we talk about the influence of Black music on all genres.” Coogler’s award-winning film found its way into Rapsody’s latest album with her bar on “No Way” nodding to Michael B.
