@cast.iron.cpr: This one is putting up a fight. 😳 4 times through the vinegar bath at 30 mins each! The rust is finally starting to give up, but there’s still a LOT hiding under the surface. I moved this patient into the lye bath to see if some of that stubborn carbon is helping hold all that rust in place. We’re not done yet… but we’re making progress. 🩺🍳 Follow along and let’s see what’s really underneath all that rust. #castiron #vintagecastiron #rustrevival #castironrestoration #castironcpr
Electrolysis is the only way vinegar half ass cleans em

she's beautiful! with those legs! I've not gotten any cast iron with little resting legs like this! do you know what brand or model this is? it doesn't look like a Wagner or Griswold so they're not my usual brands.

If ya can’t sand blast it, I’ve recovered a bunch of cast iron for family members with rough rock salt, olive oil, and thick steel wool, the coily kind. I don’t recommend doing it bare handed though, I do, because of sensory issues with gloves, but it tears my hands up

Wireless drill and a wire brush would probably work pretty good on this! Dad and I do this with old car parts and they come out nice and clean!

Why are you only leaving in the vinegar for 30 minutes? Hats not even giving it time to work. Leave that thing in there overnight or at least a few hours without taking it out

Hydrogen peroxide broski; oxygen from the rust should bind with the hydrogen in it
