@evelyn.archivee: The beauty of retro helmets There is something beautiful about the strange silhouettes of old helmets. Rounded shells, tiny vents, oversized visors and almost futuristic proportions make them feel like objects from an alternate version of the past. The 1950s, 60s and 70s produced some of the most recognisable helmet shapes, as motorcycle helmets evolved from simple protective gear into objects with their own visual identity. What I love about designs like this is how far they are from the sleek, aerodynamic look we associate with modern helmets. They have character. They almost look more like industrial design, sci fi props or fashion pieces than safety equipment. That visual language is still influencing modern retro helmets today, with brands recreating those rounded silhouettes while using current safety standards underneath. Would you wear a helmet like this purely for the aesthetic? #RetroDesign #HelmetDesign #MotorcycleCulture #IndustrialDesign #VintageStyle
