Now, start making videos for him. Take photos of you two together. Write him letters that he can read his whole life. I lost my mom when I was young. I eoould have given anything if I’d had those things.

Hire a “death doula”. Hear me out, a hospice respite volunteer was a death doula. She came in when my dad was living helped record stories he was sharing. It’s a lot to take on by yourself, recording all the things you would want to tell you son as he grows up . This woman was amazing. I may not be able to listen for some time, but she has sent it to me.

Stacie, you have an amazing gift of expression. It’s so powerful yet incredibly soft. It hits right where it counts most. Thank you for allowing me to see into your heart.

My dad passed from cancer when I was three but one of the most cherished things I have are the letters he wrote for different milestones. They were in labelled envelopes and in a safety deposit box. He also did some for other members of my family. Take care ❤️

have you recorded any videos for him to watch when he's older? I'm certain he'd love that

Think ahead. The 16th birthday graduation wedding first kid write cards for everything NOW and have them saved. Keep a diary write letters take pictures. He will want to know about how you felt and how this went when he’s older. Picture books and videos. Anything to make losing you easier for him.

Staci it won’t be the same as a mother’s love. I can’t lie to you. But your husband and your daughter and your mom will love him. It won’t be the same. But he will be loved. And he will be ok. ❤️

Write to him for the future, make videos for him, make videos with him, record your voice and remind him over and over that love can never go anywhere. The truth is his little brain isn't gonna be able to comprehend or prepare but you can lock that love in and give him more of you for the future when he can understand. Make the memories and remember that love transcends all, even death.

Record videos for him, as many as you can! So he is able to hear your voice, see you, know you as you were. Video diaries, thoughts, feelings, your hopes for him, anything you can teach him! I lost my parent when I was young & wish I knew who he was outside of “dad”

Remember this,, he is going to be so proud of his beautiful, young mom. He will see your smile and know how much he is loved by you. Not many children are left with such wonderful memories. His dad will tell his stories and fill in the blanks.

It’s also such a weird thing because some plan for death and some it comes up on completely unexpected. We all truly should live like we’re dying in the sense of how we prep but I understand and respect that this is a very real thing you are facing opposed to a “could happen”. The best thing I would say are videos, saved and sent to an email or a few different places so he always has them. Daddy and family and friends will hold him and even though I’m in absolute tears just writing this you picked your husband for a reason and your momma raised YOU and there will be so much love surrounding him though I know in our hearts it’s not the same, that’s when the sound of your voice will step in 🤎

someone mentioned videos, but also letters! write all the letters. write them when these things happen and you are able to write them. write them for big milestones in his life. write them for random days, just because or a stack of little notes for the days when he feels down. write them all if you are able.

Take so many videos. Take videos of just a regular day. Just talking with him. So he can see the ways you interacted and the ways you loved him. Talk about random things. I am so grateful I got videos of my Mom and recorded conversations just having regular conversations.

I know it won’t fix this feeling but all moms forget important events! You are extra aware because of your diagnosis but I promise you are still showing up for him in so many important ways that will shape him forever in ways you may not ever be able to see, but your presence is felt more than your absence.
