I took graphic design class and I can tell you the the reason why the dress is white is because of positive and negative space. When it comes to an advertisement like this they want the main target to be the shoes, so the shoes are the only things with negative space while the rest of the picture has positive space, making the negative space (the shoes) the main focus as then the negative space stands out against the positive space. And the star is because of it being the “all star” collection.
