the people in the comments are wrong, reptiles do have emotions but dont feel attachment because their brains lack the the specific chemicals and they dont feel human-like deep love or affection, they do feel excitement, fear, stress, anxiety, frustration and pain

while yes this motion COULD indicate a defensive iguana this is also just how they communicate aswell you must look at the tail if an iguana is truly upset they hiss and whip you with that tail of doom
