Healy-Rae was attacked while sitting in his car in traffic on Cork Street in Dublin on 16 September 2026. A man approached the vehicle and assaulted him through the open window, leaving him with facial and mouth injuries that required stitches. Martin said he spoke directly with Healy-Rae after the attack and described him as shaken by what had happened.
