I never understood why Dumbledore needed something in return for protecting the Potters

When he says he has is mother's eyes, he's not talking about color...He's talking about the kindness...

My niece (who is 14) started reading the Harry Potter books last year. She asked me who my favorite character is and was super annoyed when I said "Snape." I gave her no hints. She was so excited when she finished the books and agreed Snape was the best!

he loved Harry as if he was his own child. never allowed himself to show it. he loved Harry's mom and still did his best to protect a kid that wasnt his.Snap will always be one of my favorite characters ❤️

When my daughter was starting to read HP, she continously said "HOW can Snape be your favorite? He's awful! I don't understand!". She hugged me when she finished.

The most touching thing to me about this scene is Harry’s character. He LOATHES this man in this moment and believes him to be a traitor, and yet his empathy is so strong he still tries to help him by trying, in vain, to stop the bleeding 😭 Harry is SO good it’s profoundly moving.

Bro, to be Harry and wake up from that and realize it was all a lie must hit another kind of devastating level.

The fact this was such a missed opportunity to make Snape his father over James who was a big nothing burger of a character
