I do think there are certain situations where you can be accommodating if you can afford it. For example if someone is traveling a far distance or doesn’t know anyone else at the wedding. But guests also have to remember the day is not about them. If you don’t get a plus one, it’s usually nothing personal and comes down to costs and comfortability. If that upsets you as a guest then don’t go to the wedding.

Another hot take: if you can’t mingle and make new friends at what is literally a party, that’s on you. I’ve gone to weddings where I only knew the couple getting married and still had a great time because I still know how to get on the dance floor and talk to people
