So the school I work at uses life touch and I am a special ed para and they actually always ask us to pick the final photo. Whatever one looks the best. We are the ones behind the camera, trying to hype them up and make them look. We just had picture day and I was sweating doing the most just to get a smile or even their eyes looking at this direction. But still, I had some kids not having it asking them to sit on a stool in front of the camera. Some kids just hate it. But I do agree I would never pick a photo with hands on the face.

yes, I have turned off the comment section due to the amount of inconsiderate comments and disgusting ones as well especially ones that are coming from special needs teachers themselves! And retakes are on October 27th.

Ty for standing up to your daughter. Hope this helps someone else. This happened to me but i was able to go to retake day & i talked to the principal & he was understanding. The photographer that day was so helpful plus the paras & we were able to get a decent picture. & you are right it is not the child’s fault

I’m a special ed teacher and a few years ago a photographer from life touch asked “what’s wrong with him?” very loudly and rudely referring to one of my students. I told my office manager and we switched companies.

I was a special needs 1:1 aid & was able to help my students through picture day . It’s chaotic and I can tell you all the adults (in that situation I was privy to) did all they could to get good photos of the students . They even told us they would photoshop ourselves out if any part of us, our arms etc were in the photos . I would just let her take retakes & express to the school staff to please help her through it . I also know at the school I was working at that they showed me her pics so see if I thought they looked good .

As a special needs teenage kid my school pictures sucks as well. But for life-touch to do this to your daughter she doesn’t deserve that at all and I am sorry this happened to you

I’ve been following you for the bass caught with they ahh in the grass.. but I’m really glad to have come across this as someone with a special needs sibling who couldn’t IMAGINE putting a photo of that adorable little girl with her fingers all in her face😭 society we need to do better

I am the parent of a special needs child too and school pics are so freaking difficult. I can take good pictures of my child so it definitely isn't impossible though. I eventually quit letting them take "picture day school pic" of my daughter. I was taking these Good Morning pics of her in her school uniform with her hair just done every school day and posting them so those are her school pics.

That’s so unfortunate!! The company our school works with will take however long to get a good photo of the kids (school for children with autism and RD). They aren’t given special training just come with understanding ❤️

Yeah, my mom did all the photos from life touch since middle school to elementary school in high school for me and my sisters there was every smiles even from my high school senior photo in summer break yeah I did my high school senior photo in summer break is also in my 2026 yearbook of me taking a picture of myself

As an educator that supports kids in pictures day in special education classes.. we have to be pushy with the photographers to keep trying if we don’t get it. It’s ROUGH. Some photographers are kind some don’t give a shit.

i used to do school photo photog in tampa with another company and they would always take a slot out of the day to accommodate the special needs children and take our time with them so the parents can get a photo they cherish. i am so sorry you went through this girl.
