@peluche125: The Rio Grande is seeing a sharp rise through Albuquerque following several days of heavy rain and runoff across the region. According to provisional USGS data from the Rio Grande at Albuquerque gauge, flow increased from 193 cubic feet per second at 4:15 a.m. Friday to 618 cfs by 7:15 a.m. That means river flow climbed by about 220% in just 3 hours, becoming more than 3 times as high. The river’s gauge height also rose from 2.67 feet to 3.44 feet during the same period. The jump comes as repeated showers and thunderstorms have brought widespread rainfall to central and northern New Mexico. The National Weather Service says additional showers and thunderstorms are possible around the Albuquerque metro Friday, with some storms capable of producing heavy rainfall. The rise is a significant short-term boost for the Rio Grande through Albuquerque, but it does not mean the region’s longer-term drought and water-supply concerns are over.
