This has to be the most nuanced and canon interpretation of Tom Riddle I’ve had the honor to come across. I’ve seen so many people portraying Tom Riddle as this sort of emotionless, stoic, character. And it makes me laugh because this man was quite literally the opposite in every way. I remember reading the second book, because I watched the movies first, and seeing how widely different his portrayal was on screen. It was almost like he had more “life” than his movie counterpart. I also noticed his theatrical nature was very evident in the books too. That’s something people tend to forget when it comes to Tom Riddle/Voldemort. He tends to go on these long monologues. He wants an audience, he wants people to acknowledge, and feel. If he’s gonna kill you, he wants you to know why he’s doing it, how he’s gonna do it, he wants to see the look in your eyes while he does. Essentially playing with his food. Which explains why he didn’t kill Harry in the graveyard right away.

This is actually amazing how in-depth you went. This is why I kind of like villains or tragic characters. I’m an analytical person so I like to look into their psych. One thing I will say is you say Tom had the inability to love. J. K. Rowling debunked that. People have drawn that conclusion from what Dumbledore said in the book but J. K. said that wasn’t true and Dumbledore was just trying to understand Tom Riddle. He had the ability to love, he just didn’t want to and felt like it was weakness.

Muak, I kiss your brain, baby 🩷, and that's why I don't buy that he knew Nagini before becoming a snake for life, nor that he wanted a baby with Bellatrix. At least not that he had it "carnally"... and based on this kind of analysis, I doubt he had an intimate, sexual... or romantic relationship. At least...it's canon! Because the relationship between Nagini and Bella should be taken with a grain of salt. And I say this because there are multiple theories circulating on Tumblr about Nagini, about Tom's time in Albania, and the fact that he survived with her "milk" when he was first defeated as Voldemort. And with Bellatrix...well, supposedly they have a daughter together, although we all agree that it's NOT canon. 💀🗣

Wait idk about the whole slept his way up to power thing bc i can js imagine a genderbent Tom who’d never want to resort to that, you know?? Like the misogyny at the time and the way she’d rather be recognized for her power than what her body can do to please others and open doors😭😭😭

i agree with everything except the ones about hepzibah and helena. tom probably had a solid understanding of people's desires thanks to legilimency. i'm not sure if it can be performed without the other person noticing but if it can, then reading minds and observing romantic dynamics helped a lot. people who are asexual without being aromantic exist after all, so those behaviors could be classified as romantic. also, rowling said tom would have been different if merope had lived. many potterheads think this means the love potion metaphorically deprived him of the concept because he was born from a loveless union. i feel like the ministry would have restricted the use of amortentia or made it difficult to access if a significant number of wizards conceived under its effect were unable to love
