Honey was about 2½ years old then—a Hurricane Florence rescue. She had already been through more than any dog should have to go through. And if I’m being honest, she wasn’t the only one who was broken when we found each other. I was broken too. Somehow, two broken hearts found exactly what they needed in each other. We mended each other. We learned to trust, to love, to feel safe again. And somewhere along the way, we became inseparable. ❤️ I know with everything in me that God sent Honey to me after I lost my Lil Girl. I don’t believe it was an accident. I believe God knew exactly what my heart needed, and He brought this sweet girl into my life at exactly the right time. And now, eight years later, my Honey girl is approximately 11 years old. I watch the gray slowly take over her sweet face, and I can’t help but think about time. And honestly… I don’t ever want to say goodbye to my best friend. Not ever. I know one day that day will come, but I refuse to let the fear of it steal the days I have with her now. Because Honey has had a beautiful life, and I promise you, she will continue to have the very best life I can give her for every single day God gives us together—right up until her final breath. She deserves every soft bed, every treat, every belly rub, every adventure, every kiss, and every bit of love in the world. Honey, you were my rescue as much as I was yours. You came into my life when we were both broken, and somehow you helped put pieces of my heart back together that I didn’t even know were missing. Thank you for choosing me. Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for loving me when I needed it most. Thank you for being my constant, my comfort, and my very best friend.
