#fypviralシ #jamesenglish #glasgow #crimenews #fyp A Scots podcaster has been convicted of domestic abuse against his former partner following a 12‑day trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court. James English, 43, was found guilty of engaging in a course of behaviour that was abusive towards the 30‑year‑old woman between July 2022 and November 2023. Sheriff David Hall ruled that six of the 19 allegations within the single charge were proven, with one withdrawn mid‑trial. The court heard that the pair met after initially speaking on Instagram in July 2022 and began a relationship the following month. Evidence was given remotely by the woman from a courtroom in Cardiff. She told the court that English was “nice at first” and that the relationship progressed quickly. The first act of violence occurred in the early hours of the morning while they were lying in bed. She said English became angry when she declined a cuddle, stating she felt sick. She told the court: “He kicked me off the bed… it was quite forceful because I hit the wardrobe when I came off the bed.” She said she was shocked and attempted to leave the room, but English followed her minutes later, grabbed her by the shoulders and pushed her against a wall with enough force to lift her from her feet. She described feeling frightened and said he appeared angry. The relationship continued and the woman later discovered she was pregnant. She told the court that English seized her by the neck, compressed it and pinned her against a door during one incident, leaving her “petrified”. A second episode involved him grabbing her by the throat for several seconds. In another incident while she was pregnant, English pressed his thumbs into her eyebrows, causing redness. He also pulled her by the hair, causing her to lose her balance, and later struck her across the face with an open hand, leaving redness which she reported to her brother. The court also heard that English sent threatening and abusive messages Defence counsel Calum Weir argued that the Crown’s case “fell short” of proving guilt beyond reasonable doubt, claiming the woman was vague with dates and that no photographs of injuries were produced. He also questioned the context of screenshots and recordings shown in court. Sheriff Hall said he found the woman “credible and reliable” and that the relationship appeared “destined to fail” and had “dragged on”. Sentence was deferred for background reports until next month, and English’s bail was continued.
