@croross: Established in March 1933 near Munich, Dachau was the first Nazi concentration camp and served as the operational blueprint and training ground for the entire SS camp network. Initially built to imprison political dissidents, it expanded to hold Jews, Romani, clergy, homosexuals, and prisoners of war from across Europe. Over 200,000 prisoners passed through its gates, with more than 41,500 documented deaths caused by starvation, disease, forced labor, execution, and medical experimentation. Liberated by American forces on April 29, 1945, Dachau is now a memorial site dedicated to honoring its victims and educating future generations about the atrocities of the Holocaust. #History #WW2 #Holocaust #Dachau #HistoricalFacts
