This is how restaurants need to play It. If the order for the table comes to more than one hundred dollars , you require a credit card that has a balance on it that can pay off what the tables full bill would be. So if all of the meal for the whole table, even if they're paying separately comes to $300, you must have a credit card that I can run ahead of time and secure $300.I am perfectly fine doing that. If this doesn't fit your budget , then you don't go to those restaurants, or you have cash and use it in the same way, as a deposit.

This happened in Australia at my restaurant. Police didn't do much. They said it was civil, so I took it to the media. Turns out the same guy did this to 40 plus restaurants and it became a massive story. Police were searching for him, whilst this happened he went to a knew restaurant. The staff recognised him, called the police and when the police came, they realised he had a shotgun in his bag and was going to shoot up this restaurant as a last time. He is still in jail. Police had a review into conduct. lol.
