Desronvil, 48, was the only juror who would not find Clancy not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility. The 11-1 deadlock ultimately led to a mistrial on Sept. 4. Attorney Edward Paltzik announced that he now represents Desronvil and described his client as an “American hero” and “champion of justice.” Those descriptions are Paltzik’s characterization, not findings by the court. Desronvil has defended his decision in the Clancy case, saying he had “no doubts” and believed the evidence showed Clancy knew what she was doing. Other jurors have publicly given a different account of the deliberations. His background has also drawn scrutiny. News reports have described a dismissed domestic Viol*nce Ass*ult charge and a later restraining order involving a family member. Clancy remains charged in the K*lling of her three children. Her defense argued she was experiencing postpartum psychosis, while prosecutors argued she remained criminally responsible. Prosecutors have not yet announced whether they will retry her.
