@flakmagnet0: USAAF B-29 Superfortresses head out on a mission over Yawata, Japan 15 June 1944. Four B-29s suffered mechanical failures and crashed during the operation, while a fifth disappeared over the Himalayas (the dangerous air route known as "The Hump") while flying supply runs to support the mission. One B-29 was shot down over the target by Japanese AA fire. Another B-29 developed severe engine trouble, made an emergency landing at a friendly airfield in Neihsiang, China and was destroyed. #History #historytok #ww2 #ww2history #aviation
