What, like it’s hard? :
As a teacher, this is why I will always have pencils, paper, supplies, etc. available. Our front office has food/clothing/ hygiene products available for those who need it. Should I have to buy these things out of my own pocket? No. Will I do my best to support my kids because I’m able? Yes.

I took it as a young child venting his feelings and frustration of what he doesn’t have but still pushing through to get important things done like an adult . He said his teacher was Mad he didn’t have a pencil but that poem was still written 👌

Classroom management became a lot easier when I made it clear to my students that I would always have a pen / pencil ready for them to use. I used to get the fun pens with pom-poms and feathers on top for them to use in class if they forgot a pen - had my classroom name / number on then and stuff. They were fun to use and students always put them back! One year, not a single “fun pen” walked away from my classroom (and I started the year with about !). Student appreciated knowing they’d I have something to write with and no big huff from me! Of course, if they needed a pen for the rest of the day, I had a box of extras in my desk that were free to take - I would get those at the heavy discount teacher days, Staples used to do or just my extras / leftovers. Class culture goes far 💜💜💜💜

As a former educator, I made sure the classroom had supplies and food. The children are going through so much at home with the lack of basic necessities. They just need your love, that’s all… love

I just fill a pencil dispenser in my room and check on it once a week to refill it. Student can ask to get a pencil whenever they want. My students deserve the tools they need to succeed.

So then why when I give then pencil do they snap it have, rip the eraser off, and throw it on the floor? Then ask again the next day? Absolutely not. I was a new teacher making 25k and OWED by district money for being sick with covid. The school doesn't buy pencils. I did. Not anymore.
