The cold war push for abstract art was a real psyop .... but it was to position New York as the head of art internationally. The govt spent a lot of money and effort essentially pushing art out of NY because of Russia's anti abstract surrealism stance. US wanted to be too for art internationally so they spent a lot of money basically advertising New York as the "it" scene for art. The artists themselves didn't even know it was going on. And it did change the world. As far as Converse and Sidney Sweeny.... Yes, they are actually trying to sell you things. But that doesn't mean they aren't ALSO a psyop. The number one thing Americans can do or be swayed into doing/supporting .... is consumerism. (Well, consumerism and war.)
