I have collapsed planovalgus feet—a condition I’ve had since childhood. Over the years, it led to posterior tibial tendon dysfunction and severe, chronic plantar fasciitis. It wasn't diagnosed or treated until after I turned 16, despite trying countless insoles, exercises, and medications. Since it’s a congenital condition, major surgery is the only way to correct it. I use a wheelchair on doctor's orders—even though I *can* walk—specifically to prevent further damage to my feet; they’re already in bad shape, and I don't want them getting any worse. Honestly, it’s been hard to come to terms with this, as I’ve only been using the wheelchair for less than two months. Now, at 24, I work from home as a video editor. Yet, I constantly question my own capabilities because I can’t run or jump, and walking is a struggle. Sometimes I feel inadequate for my partner—even though she has been supportive and hasn't left me—but for some reason, I just can't seem to see a happy person when I look in the mirror... :(
