According to court documents, Brett Tooman was arrested in Ohio after allegedly traveling to meet children he intended to ab*se. Those children were part of an undercover investigation. Evidence from that case led investigators to other men, including Joshua Ronnebaum. Investigators then found conversations between Ronnebaum and Erickson through text messages and Telegram. The criminal complaint described messages in which Erickson discussed harming children and shared exploitation material. It also alleged that he claimed to have previously ab*sed a young child. That allegation is separate from the receiving-material charge to which he pleaded guilty. At a later hearing, prosecutors presented additional evidence concerning his communications with a parent of three minors. Federal officials emphasized the seriousness of the conduct and Erickson’s position as a medical professional. U.S. Attorney Jerome Gorgon Jr. said investigators had stopped someone who was discussing plans to harm children while working within a profession built on trust.
