@astoldbyindie: One day, the ruling class will be defeated and all will be perfect. Kind of like how after Voldemort was defeated. There was no conversation about deconstructing the mindsets that led him to power. harry potter is a stupid story #feminism #sexism #leftism #classsolidarity #fyp
i read a book about misogyny and the burden of domestic labor in the Soviet Union and that kinda made everything click for me. it was so long ago I wish I could remember the title but I’m sure you can find similar sources if you browse a bit.

I don't think people realize that capitalism is a relatively new idea. but patriarchy has been around for millennia

I saw a tweet ages ago that read something like “yeah he’s read bell hooks, but does he do the dishes?” And I think about that a lot

it's the opposite. we have to abolished sexism and misogyny to combat classism. if one half of the population is earning less due to their sex how can we even begin to address capitalism and classism

I’ve started to see Capitalism, Patriarchy, and Yt Supremacy as a braid that allows them to reinforce each other and to truly deconstruct both you need to understand and deconstruct all three.

they genuinely think that not beating/harassing/killing women is enough to count as feminism most of the time

like yes sexism was created by Capital to prolong capital but it's also a separate thought process that is ingrained into some one in patriarchal society and can be used as a system of oppression even outside of capitalism

anytime you try to get them to discuss anything intersectional (race, gender) they shout you down and say it’s a distraction. it’s obnoxious

They love to skip the part where we CAN’T have class solidarity while we’re still holding onto misogyny, racism, ableism, etc.

People truly don’t understand how much sexism effects women today and even when you watch movies that are supposedly feminist like the Barbie movie or whatever they barely even begin to touch the surface of the issues that women deal with, they always focus on the least crucial of our issues and I think that’s part of what causes people to think feminism is no longer necessary. Like if “feminist” movies actually did their job they would mention femicide and lack of access to healthcare and trafficking and violence against women and the fact that there aren’t any cars that are safe for us to drive because cars were designed for male body’s or how we never get enough sleep because 8hrs is the recommended time for male bodies not female bodies or how often prescription medication doses will be based off of the male body type and women are prescribed terrible dosages that cause us side effects and stuff like that but all you ever see in these “feminist” movies is stuff like “ugh I hate being catcalled and not being taken seriously at work” and it’s like yeah obviously that stuff matters too but Jesus fucking Christ there’s larger issues at play here

they feel the same way about anti racist theory. as if capitalism and colonialism weren't built on misogyny and white supremacy.

I had to take a philosophy class to study law and it was mind blowing to hear about the “Wandering Womb” concept (Men believing that the uterus moves to other parts of the body and causes Hysteria) for the first time like girl, they’ve just been making up reasons to be misogynistic for a millennia

At best, most of them aren’t considering misogyny and sexism because they are only thinking of men when they think of classism. At worst, most of them unconsciously want to keep sexism and misogyny because they view it as the only form of oppression that is deserved or for the good of the class it oppresses

💯 Too many men hear “class solidarity” and disregard the fact that class in the US is in part determined by your perceived race and sex.

This is true but in order to abolish capitalist social relations would need to abolish patriarchy as it creates class distinctions between men and women, abolishing patriarchy isnt about person deconstruction but the abolishing the systemic systems that reinforce socialization of patriarchy

so many people see to think that just because homophobia is derived from misogyny then if we get rid of misogyny homophobia will go with it but both are so ingrained that they can exist independently and we need to fight for both, it’s the same here. We can’t just get rid of the big problem and expect the small ones to see themselves out

Yes!! Like class solidarity but only with addressing sexism and racism??? Look at white cis gay men. They got the right to marry and then pretty much stopped pushing as hard for trans rights, etc. TLDR; we all have to consciously care about each other equally
