i looked up the study, its not actual reaction time, its response time (time needed for a stimulus to be isolated) meaning how much time do you need to identify a pattern and not how luch time you react

Actually, the study doesn't measure reaction time but inspection time (IT). They describe IT as "the minimum exposure duration necessary to reliable discriminate between two stimuli." The stimuli used in this study are two parallel lines of unequal length.
