A Foundational Black American engineer helped shape the early computer industry in Silicon Valley. His name was Roy L. Clay, Sr. And long before today's tech giants dominated the world, he was helping build the future. Roy Clay worked at Hewlett-Packard. One of the companies helping define what computers could become. At a time when computers filled rooms and were used by only a small number of people, engineers were trying to make them more useful and reliable. Roy Clay was part of that effort. His work helped improve computer systems and software used by businesses and researchers. That matters. Because modern technology didn't appear overnight. It was built piece by piece. By people whose names many of us were never taught. Think about that for a second. Every app. Every website. Every smartphone.
