Just a heads-up since you already have chickens. ❤️🦃Turkeys are very susceptible to blackhead disease, which chickens can carry and spread through droppings, soil, and earthworms. I’d keep the turkey completely separate from the chickens, including their coop and ideally their outdoor area. Separate food, water, and equipment too. Turkeys are also very social, so if possible, I’d get him a turkey companion rather than keeping him alone or pairing him with a chicken. And make sure he gets proper turkey feed for his age.

Wait until he puffs up his wattle, snood, and caruncles. It’s FREAKY. Snood: The fleshy flap of skin that hangs down from the forehead over the beak. It can grow longer in male turkeys. Wattle: The bright red flap of skin that hangs under the turkey's chin and neck. It helps the bird stay cool on hot days.Caruncles: The small, bumpy, warty-looking growths found on the turkey's head and upper neck.

My cousin has like 6 turkeys and they’re the best. They love her kids SO much. They go running to greet them after school and hug them lol.

tgeir head changing color is like a warning blush, the more pale their head gets around you the more comfortable they are with you 😊 i have a chicken who pales so much she looks sickly, then my dog runs by and she gets bright red again 🤣

I keep my turkey with my chickens, however, remember its breeding season, he may try to mate with your chickens. you may want to get him a GF. mine free range through the day and share the coop at night.
