my kids dad and I had been separated for about 2 years in 2023 when I had my first mini manic episode, (didn't experience psychosis so we just chalked it up to stress from life.) The next year when I had my major one that resulted in a complete psychosis after almost a month off work and a 7 day inpt stay (I was diagnosed bipolar 1 after this.) My kids dad dropped everything and stayed with me the whole time trying to get me to come out of it before I had to go inpt. We have been together since then and although we still have our moments, it's definitely changed him and me too for that matter. It was a life altering experience and I'm glad I didn't hurt myself, my kids or anyone else for that matter.
