My Mom’s Birria Recipe 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽 Slow-cooked, full of flavor, and perfect for sharing around the table! Celebrating tradition, tacos, and Hispanic Heritage Month with @Spanglish Asadero from @Walmart My Mom’s Crockpot Birria (Serves 4-6) 3-4 lbs beef chuck roast & short ribs (or beef cheek, oxtail, brisket) 2 packets Spanglish Asadero Birria seasoning 6-8 dried chile guajillos (remove stems & seeds) 3-4 dried chiles anchos (remove stems & seeds) 2 Roma tomatoes 1/2 white onion, quartered 4 cloves garlic 2 cloves 1 tbsp salt 2 oz apple cider vinegar 2 cups water For Serving: Corn tortillas (homemade if you’re up for it) Oaxaca cheese (or your fave melting cheese) White onion, finely diced Cilantro, chopped Salsa verde Lime wedges Instructions: 1. Make the Adobo: 2. Toast the dried chiles for a couple minutes in a hot skillet (just until they smell fragrant). 3. Blend with tomatoes, onion, garlic, salt, and warm water. Strain it for a smoother consome if you want. 4. Cook the Birria: Rub the seasoning all over the meat. Add the meat to the crockpot and pour the adobo over. Add apple cider vinegar for a bit of tang. Cook on LOW for 6 hours. The meat should shred easily when done. While it Cooks: 1. Chop up your onions, cilantro, and maybe prep some salsa. If you’re feeling extra, make your own tortillas. Make the Tacos: 2. Shred the meat, and save the consome for dipping. 3. Heat your tortillas, add cheese, pile on the meat, fold, and crisp them up for 2-3 minutes on each side. 4. Serve with consome (the “liquid gold”), cilantro, onions, and a lime wedge. #SpanglishAsaderoPartner #HispanicHeritageMonth #mexicanfood #birria
