As artificial intelligence becomes more capable, people have developed surprisingly human habits around it, including saying "please," "thank you," and sometimes even apologizing to chatbots. The AI doesn't need the courtesy, but plenty of people still treat the conversation like there's someone on the other side. For now, manners are optional. By 2030, we'll see what happens.
