I’ll just agree to disagree on this topic.
I mentioned Genshin because I’ve played HoYoverse other game ZZZ. It has a nearly identical gacha system that affects the meta of the game. Before I tried ZZZ I was told that the monetization didn’t really affect the game which was false. I’ve been through this cycle with multiple gachas, so I’m using pattern recognition and applying those experiences to Genshin. The game was made by the same company, which is known for being greedy with its monetization, and how they make it impossible to pull every character you’d want to have. This is just the reality I’ve experienced with this genre. It feels like people here are telling me that my experiences didn’t happen, or that I shouldn’t use them when forming a valid educated guess. I’ll give one more example of someone making an informed prediction about two games that turned out to be correct, because it highlights what I mean about my experiences with this. There is a ex-pro FGC player who uses his pro experiences to make informed guesses on games and their meta. A year before Guilty Gear Strive released, he made videos explaining how the wall mechanic would work and how he thought it would affect the meta. Several people in the FGC told him he was wrong because he hadn’t played the game yet, arguing that he couldn’t make an informed analysis without actually playing it. When Guilty Gear Strive released, his analysis of the wall mechanic turned out to be correct. The wall became a controversial mechanic that had a significant effect on the meta. People were annoyed that he had a “told you so” attitude. He did the same thing with 2XKO. For years, he said the game wouldn’t appeal to casual players and would probably fail because its a tag game being developed by FGC players who are known for enjoying combo heavy fighters. Again people said his thoughts were wrong since the game wasn't released yet. Now we’re seeing in real time how that observation turned out to be correct, with Riot pulling the plug on 2XKO because it failed to gain a casual audience. FGC is currently regurgitating his points be made years ago.

Played 300 hours of of Genshin. It is probably the most consumer friendly way to monetise a live service game. The gatcha mechanics have zero impact on your ability to play the game. It is a great game with hundres of hours of content and you can enjoy it completely free. Yet it's financially supported by people who are collectors and feel the need to get everything whatever the cost. You don't nees to to enjoy the game at all. But you can spend thousands if you really want to and people do. Then because enough people keep doing that I get a yearly 60-100 hour content update for my free game.

gamers are so funny cuz like imagine this in any other context. "I just visited thos country and man was it hot there"
"I'm actually I have read a lot about it online and they didn't say it was hot so you are wrong"

as a long-time F2P, I'd say that Genshin's monetization is actually one of the less intrusive in gacha games. their pity system is such that you can get at least one 5-star character every other patch on F2P alone, which is pretty decent.

I genuinely stopped playing Genshin after picking up NIKKE and deciding that I’d be limiting myself to one gacha game at a time, ever. 😩

You can have an opinion on any game. But your opinion wont be taken as seriously as someone who has played it if youve never played. And a more recent example is AC4R and AC shadows yes it has microtransactions but the microtransactions add almost nothing to the game and isnt pay to win

Idk man, I have more than a few F2P friends that clear all the endgame stuff (except dire cuz that’s just kinda nuts). So like, skill issue I guess? (In response to the comment)

Genshin impact is the blueprint for modern Gacha game because of much money it makes, you are drip fed gacha currency with uneven pulling amount to make it harder to see how much your spending, just because you had fun at the casino doesn’t change how predatory it is

Would these people also say they watched an anime all the way through just because they watched a Youtuber's edited reaction to it?

I don’t think my opinion on the gambling simulator game is less valuable than the gambling addict

When it comes to games like genshin, ZZZ, HBR, or like Uma 3 things are the only thing qualifying you to have an actual opinion about it. In order of importance. 1. General knowledge about mechanics/gameplay 2. Skill level 3. Money spent. For example If you complain about male characters in ZZZ but you haven’t swiped or paid for any/most of them then you have a worthless opinion.
