Feared throughout Yokohama for his deadly ability and ruthless reputation, Akutagawa is a quiet, serious, and highly disciplined individual who rarely shows emotion. Having grown up in poverty and violence, he learned from a young age that only the strong survive, which shaped his harsh worldview. As a result, he often appears cold and merciless toward both enemies and allies alike. Despite his intimidating nature, much of Akutagawa’s character is driven by insecurity and a desperate desire for recognition. He was once trained by Osamu Dazai, whose approval he continues to seek long after they part ways. This obsession pushes him to constantly prove his strength, especially in his rivalry with Atsushi Nakajima, whom Dazai appears to value more highly. Akutagawa’s ability, Rashōmon, allows him to transform his black coat into a powerful shadow-like beast capable of cutting through nearly anything, making him one of the most dangerous ability users in the series. Beneath his cold exterior, however, lies a deeply wounded person whose struggle for validation, purpose, and self-worth makes him one of the most complex and tragic characters in Bungo Stray Dogs. - @ryuufig
