My Water Pressure Was 140 PSI! Watch to find out we avoided disaster! We started noticing something wasn’t right with the water pressure in our house. Faucets were acting strange, and eventually we noticed our water heater’s T&P valve was leaking. So I hooked up a Watts pressure gauge to see exactly what was happening. And that’s when I discovered our water pressure was reaching around 140 PSI! That’s nearly double what I’d want to see in a residential plumbing system. In this video, I’ll show you how I diagnosed the problem, removed the old pressure reducing valve (PRV), installed the replacement, and adjusted the new valve to bring our water pressure down to a much more reasonable 60 PSI. I’ll also show you how I checked the pressure before and after the repair so you can see the difference for yourself. And unfortunately, fixing the PRV didn’t completely solve the problem—the T&P valve was still leaking, which led to the second video in this series. If you’re experiencing unusually high water pressure, pressure fluctuations, or a leaking T&P valve, this video may help you understand what’s going on before tackling the repair yourself. ⚠️ Important: Plumbing systems can involve high water pressure, hot water, electricity, and other hazards. Make sure you understand the risks, follow the manufacturer’s instructions, and check your local plumbing requirements before attempting a repair. 👍 If this video helped you: LIKE the video SUBSCRIBE to Instructions Optional DIY on YouTube FOLLOW for more real-world DIY repairs, projects, product tests and tutorials. And remember… Instructions might be optional, but research isn’t.
