This was me. My grades were horrid from Grades 5–8. Eventually, I realized I wasn’t nearly as smart as I thought I was, so I spent the holidays studying for hours every day before school started. I basically relearned three years worth of material because I genuinely couldn’t even do fractions or basic algebra. Now i’m at the top of my class and have even moved into advanced math learning grade 11 math when I’m still grade 9

I agree with idea of “never learning how to study” though. Ive been tested tested and am in the range of 130-140 at 98% percentile. In grade 10 I’m finding I have to rethink how I study to effectively process information. But then again, if you are truly gifted, you shouldn’t have an issue solving problems in your own brain.

My IQ is diagnosed 79 first time, 72 second time. Even with hard work I barely get low 80s lmao. Don‘t like admitting it but it sucks, I don‘t know where the happy dumb person stereotype came from.
