I hope it is not a remake but rather a prequel set about 15 years before the original when Gus and Call were still Texas Rangers in their prime and on the hunt for Blueduck and other bandits and bands of Comanche and bandits were still raiding and terrorizing settlers. Maggie was still alive too.

I’m definitely going to watch it. There’s no requirement to compare it to the original series, and they’re not going to destroy every copy of the original after it’s released. There are other books I’d rather see get a first shot over a remake, but also no one at Netflix asked me.

It’ll never beat the original but it can be ok if they do it right. Don’t try to copy it so close like the people did with true grit. You can’t out do them so don’t try. Make it your own while showing respect to the OG

The ONLY remake I've ever seen that could hold a candle to the original was Monty Walsh. I don't believe this will come anywhere close to that in quality !

Knowing how they are making movies these days. It would be a miracle to beat the original. No one can replace Robert Duvall.
