@carlethkeys: ❤️🩹 After double knee surgery, these became my non-negotiables for marathon training, but I think they apply to anyone trying to come back from injury without ending up right back where they started 👇 1. No running through pain. Discomfort, fatigue, hard workouts? Yes. Pain that changes the way I move? Nope. 2. Strength training. I need to be strong enough to run. 3. No mileage for the sake of mileage. I don’t care what everyone else’s marathon plan says. 4. Recovery counts as training. I’m done treating recovery like something I earn after destroying myself. 5. If something feels wrong, I adjust early. I’ve learned that one modified workout is much cheaper than six weeks off. 6. I train the body I have NOW. Not the runner I was before surgery. Not the runner I was when I ran 3:26. 8. Cross-training is not “less than.” If it builds fitness without beating up my knees, it belongs in the plan. 9. Form matters. Especially after spending so long compensating and protecting one side. Sometimes the comeback is literally teaching your brain how to move again. 10. My goal is the start line healthy. Because getting ridiculously fit but too injured to race makes absolutely no sense. 11. I refuse to give up. It doesn’t mean refusing to rest, adapt, slow down or change the plan. It means to believe in yourself. What’s ONE non-negotiable you’ve learned the hard way as a runner? 👇 Share this with that runner friend who’s struggling with injuries ❤️🩹 #marathontraining #runninginjuries #injuredrunner #tcsnycmarathon #runningtips
