Colorism is real you can’t speak for every light Black person and say they don’t experience it or that we all think we benefit from it. My siblings, My parents Ect are black we’re not all the same color yet we can still relate to each other on the topic of colorism and racism in our life experiences nobody has ever had to explain what racism or colorism looks like to me when I’ve experienced both myself because I’m still black ?? And this is exactly why I don’t understand why the conversation keeps becoming light BLACK vs Dark BLACK,did light skins create colorism? Did we create the racial hierarchy that taught people to value whiteness and lighter skin over darker skin? NO WHITE PEOPLE DID So why are we turning around and blaming each other and dividing our own community over a system that was created before any of us were even here AND PURPOSELY CREATED TO NOT BENEFIT ANY OF US NO MATTER IF WE’RE LIGHT OR DARK IT MATTERS IF WE’RE BLACK OFC they don’t see us any differently. darkskin people can experience colorism That does NOT mean light Black people are incapable of experiencing colorism. Both things can be true. My skin being lighter does not make me white, and it does not erase the fact that I am Black. I’ve been called racial slurs, compared to animals, and treated differently because I’m Black. SO stop treating light Black people like a monolith. If one light skin person is colorist & genuinely believes they benefit from colorism that is THEIR own ignorant belief. They do not speak for me or live for evb they do not speak for millions of other light Black people. Just like one dark skin person’s opinion doesn’t speak for every dark skin Black person We are individuals we have to stop fighting each other and recognize the bigger issue. Colorism isnt a “light skin vs. dark skin” problem. It exists across the world even in other ethnic communities So why are we making Black people fight each other over a system we didn’t create? I shouldn’t have to repeatedly say “I’m Black” just because my skin is lighter. This my culture, my family my history & my identity too just bc you’re dark skin dnt make you no blacker than the rest that are just as black as the rest

idk wht being light skin has ever gotten me in this world other than cheated on, beated on, hated on or fetishized. however, i've also never said i have it worse than anyone of a darker complexion than me. like...we are all black but my struggles aren't gonna be the same as someone elses. but some of these comments are quite colorist to light skins tbh 😭 i get it (to an extent) and i can sympathize (to an extent) bc of my own experiences, but im also not okay with someone trynna tell me im not black fr.
