This literally happened to me and they ruined hundreds of dollars of expensive funeral clothes! Mind you, I didnโt get the bag in time for the funeral either. Just ruined, wet clothes. Documented with photos and tags and receipts and they would not pay for any of it. They gave me about $400 in flight credits ๐ I avoid Southwest now. Extremely disappointing.

I would never have imagined this happening. I'm using vacuum seal bags every flight from now on. I wouldn't expect a hard covered suitcase to get wet inside. that's crazy

To be fair if theyโre in the process of loading stuff and it starts storming, they have to drop everything and go inside until it drops. Granted they should be covered but it could also happen with any airline.

Was it raining? If the luggage sat outside, the rain can soak through the zippers. Happened to me in Florida.
