Hispanic is a linguistic term. It means of any Spanish-speaking country, be it Spain, Cuba, or Equatorial Guinea. Latino is a geographic term, it means of Latin America. There are people of all racial origins that can claim either of these.

I’d argue we’re an ethnicity because it’s all made up anyways. It’s hard to have good debates when someone always says “Mexican is not a race” or “you know there are black Mexicans”. I understand that but it’s counterintuitive when you hold what Asians, black, white people to their own standards.

I agree, Mexican is a nationality not a race. Just like being Hispanic, it is a culture not a race. People need to travel more or at lest read a book or two.

As a Hispanic, I propose the creation of an English equivalent of Hispanic: The Anglastics. Those would be the citizens of English-speaking countries of North and South America. The Canadians, the US citizens, and the people of Belize. The Anglastics can be black or white or Asians or any race, as long as they speak English outside of the UK

Hispanic is a descendant from Spain. That can be either mixed or not. Latino is the culture. Anyone that possesses the culture and/or language can be Latino but not necessarily Hispanic.

I was born in Mexico as a U.S. citizen by birth. My mother is a Texan woman of Greek and Italian descent, while my father was from Mexico with Spanish ancestry. We all are a melting pot!!!!
