@yallabikestlv: A once-in-a-lifetime experience… that somehow happens every year. Yom Kippur in Israel is unlike anything I’ve experienced anywhere else. For one day, all the cars disappear. No buses, no trains, no traffic - and the streets completely transform. Highways become bike paths. Kids ride down the middle of normally packed roads. People walk, skate, bike, and explore their cities in a completely different way. It’s almost impossible to explain what an entire city feels like without the constant sound of cars. Every year, it reminds me just how much traffic shapes the way we experience the places we live and makes me wonder what our cities could feel like if we gave more space back to people more often. I wait for this day all year. I like to call it Bike Christmas. If you’ve never experienced Yom Kippur in Israel, add it to your bucket list.
