During your next job interview, you need to show these FOUR ABILITIES if you want to get the job. And the fourth one is probably the easiest one to demonstrate…yet 9 out of 10 candidates don’t even attempt it. If you don’t know me, I’m Mark Williamson…a longtime recruiting and talent acquisition leader with more than 25 years of experience sitting in the rooms where hiring decisions are made. ABILITY 1 #1DEPENDABILITY. Show them you can be counted on. Don’t just tell them you’re dependable. Give them specific examples of times you made a commitment, followed through, and delivered on what you promised. ABILITY 2#2ACCOUNTABILITY. Show them that when you screw up…you own it. Talk about a mistake you’ve made, what you learned from it, and — most importantly — what you changed so it wouldn’t happen again. Because everybody makes mistakes. Hiring managers want to know what you do after you make one. ABILITY 3: #3PROACHABILITY. Can people come to you? Give examples that demonstrate people feel comfortable coming to you for help, collaborating with you, or giving you constructive feedback. Because nobody wants to hire someone who’s technically good at their job but is difficult to work with. And then there’s… ABILITY 4: LI#4ABILITY. And this is where I see so many candidates completely miss the opportunity. They’re so focused on giving the “perfect” interview answer that they forget there’s an actual human being sitting across the table from them. Let them see your personality. Make a lighthearted comment. Make fun of yourself when it’s appropriate. Find something you have in common with the interviewer. Let the conversation breathe a little. You don’t have to become a comedian. You just need to give the interviewer a reason to think: “Yeah…I’d actually like working with this person.” Because at the end of the day, companies aren’t just hiring your résumé. They’re hiring YOU. And I’m curious about this one… Do you find it difficult to show your personality and likeability during a job interview? And if you don’t, what do you do to show the interviewer that you’re someone they’d actually enjoy working with? Either way, Drop your thoughts in the comments. #jobinterview #jobinterviewtips #interviewtips #interviewquestions #relaxhat
