Our hr welcomes them in and sits them in the room then gets us for the interview. She lets us know first impressions and someone bringing an iced coffee would definitely be mentioned. We had a guy literally bring McDonald’s in once 😂 so yes, stuff like that may not be a deal breaker but it could be the deciding factor if all things are equal. In this job market I’d never chance it

As a recruiter I’ve seen people not get a job cuz of one typo on a resume, because they showed up 1 minute late, because they brought food or a drink with them, because they didn’t bring extra copies of their resume the problem is you don’t know anything about the person interviewing you and how they feel about these things. So it’s usually best to err on the side of caution and not do those things.

Exactly. Conducting in what you think is a mundane behavior can be perceived as a red flag. That behavior could mean entitlement, lack of self awareness, and an overall poisonous mindset. You're not just hiring for the position, you need to consider the existing team members and how they fit in or influences them.
