The rule of threes is also a basic principle in writing, so how do you distinguish good, experienced writing strategy and rhetorical power from something that “must be AI” because it uses the same principles?

Why do all this admission people take it so personal! If you interview doctors now and and ask them about the real reasons behind pursing Medicine, most of them will say prestige, ego, family wanted them to, and money. Very little people are in medicine because they love it 🤦♀️

Yeah I hear what you’re saying about tone, but many people write in lists of threes—oh right, and also use the em dash 🤦♂️. If you base your decision on speculation that a student is using AI, you gotta do some serious introspection. If you’re so sus, give them an interview and grill them in their application…I’m quite sure those shortcomings will show in person.

Assuming AI use means low effort is closed minded. Sure some do have fully AI generated writing, but that's its own case. I think it's almost classist, to completely dismiss a resource that has brought guidance to those not fortunate enough to have someone paid for by family to read and edit their application. If they paid a human to basically rewrite their essays, someone well versed in the application process likely, you all would be praising the student. If a less fortunate student, just trying to survive figuring out how the long and complex process works, and abiding by all these secret rules of writing you can only naturally know with nepotism or other backgrounds in medicine, then I say let them get that assistance from AI.
