@maggieskitchensandbaths: Not every cabinet upgrade deserves the space it takes up. Mixer lifts are great if you bake constantly, but for most kitchens, sacrificing an entire cabinet for one appliance isn’t worth it. Glass front upper cabinets can look beautiful with taller ceilings, especially on double stacked cabinetry. Inset doors give you a custom look, but on Long Island, changes in humidity can cause wood to expand and contract and potentially make them harder to operate. One upgrade I’ll almost always take is a garbage pullout. It keeps the trash hidden instead of leaving a garbage can sitting at the end of a beautiful cabinet run. Food needs to goto compost bin and that goes out every 3 days. Recycle and trash shouldn’t smell

Those in-cabinet bins are too small. My kids would fill those things 3-4 times a day. I don’t know why they generate so much trash!

Mixer bases are not worth it for serious bakers either. They shake and wobble with large mixers, especially when doing large batches. They feel unstable no matter how you adjust them. For serious bakers a counter top garage space is more practical

Take your garbage out daily is dumb advice. These people designing kitchens must not cook in them. Who wants open garbage in a cabinet? At least design it with a lid.
